Junior Road Safety

The JRSO scheme in St Peter's appoints two year 6 children as Road safety Officers. They are actively involved in helping Mrs Dearman to educate children, teachers and parents in many aspects of road safety and how actively travelling to school helps both the environment and your individual health.

They have just lauched the WOW scheme that encourages children to walk to school at least once a week, every week and if they can their efforts are rewarded with one of 12 collectable WOW badges.

Our JRSOs give talks, create and display posters, run competitions, monitor the WOW walkers and think of ways in which their peers would be encouraged and engaged to promote and follow road safety and active travel.

The following graphs show that we are already having an impact with the WoW initiative. Keep on striding! well done to all those who have begun to think about ways to walk.
