The Rights Respecting School Award is linked to the rights of every child. The UN convention states, ‘The united Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child sets out the right of every person under 18 and how those rights should be met. It is an international statement of the civil, political, social and cultural rights of children.’
In school we know our rights as children and take responsibility and ownership of these rights. Our work is linked to these rights. For example, Article 28: every child has the right to an education. We know that it is our right to come to school and learn, but it is our responsibility to make sure we are at school on time and that we are motivated and participate in our learning.
Look around our school for the purple signs under our displays. They show how our work is linked to children’s rights.
