Intent
Intent Statement
Our intention is that the provision of Geography will enable us to achieve our vision – every child a success.
'At St Peter’s C of E Primary School, it is our shared vision that geography develops pupils’ understanding and awareness of the world around them. Geography is, by nature, an investigative subject and we aim to inspire pupils through the joy of learning and through real-life experiences. This includes educational visits, visitors and discovery and exploration. Our Geography curriculum is designed to develop knowledge, understanding and skills that are not only progressive but also transferable to other curriculum areas. We promote pupils’ curiosity, fascination and discovery of the world through experience, questioning and discussion so children become confident, independent and successful learners. Discussion encourages children to share their beliefs, thoughts and ideas in a safe and nurturing environment as well as learning to be respectful of contrasting views. These skills support children in their academic, emotional, spiritual and social development.'
