St Peter's CofE Primary School
"Every Child a Success"
Intent Statement
Our intention is that the provision of History will enable us to achieve our vision – every child a success.
'At St Peter’s C of E Primary School we believe that a high-quality History education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching will equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History will help pupils' to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. We want children to enjoy and love learning about history and gain this knowledge and skills through varied topics taught across both Key Stages. Topics are usually enriched by visits, workshops and ‘History days’ in school.'
