Welcome to the Autumn Term of Year 1!
We are so excited to introduce your child to the wonderful learning opportunities that the year 1 curriculum offers.
Our first book
In class, we have been reading Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The story follows a young boy who discovers a penguin standing alone outside his door. Believing the penguin is lost, he sets off on an adventurous journey across the ocean to return him to the South Pole. Once they arrive, the boy realises the penguin was never lost at all and was simply looking for a friend. Through our discussions, we explored themes of friendship, kindness, belonging, and empathy. The children enjoyed predicting events, discussing characters’ feelings, and reflecting on the importance of being a good friend to others.
